This Privacy Policy describes how Speedometer (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) handles information collected through our mobile application available on the Google Play Store.
By downloading, installing, or using Speedometer, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information Collection & Usage
A. Location Data (GPS & Sensors)
Real-Time GPS Data: Speedometer requests access to your device’s Precise Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) and Approximate Location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) solely to calculate and display real-time speed, distance traveled, heading, and GPS accuracy.
On-Device Processing: All GPS coordinates and motion calculations are processed exclusively on your local device in real-time. We do NOT store, record, track, transmit, or share your GPS coordinates or trip history to any external servers or third parties.
When the App is closed or not in active use, location tracking ceases immediately.
B. Personal Information
We do NOT require user registration, sign-up, or login.
We do NOT collect, harvest, or store personal identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or photos.
2. Third-Party Services & Advertising
Speedometer integrates standard third-party SDKs to provide core platform services and monetization for free users:
A. Google AdMob (Advertising)
The free version of the App uses Google AdMob to display non-intrusive banner and interstitial advertisements.
Google AdMob may collect and use anonymous device identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), IP addresses, and diagnostic crash logs to serve personalized or contextual advertisements in compliance with Google Play Developer policies.
You can manage or reset your ad personalization settings at any time in your device settings under Google > Ads.

B. Google Play In-App Billing
In-app purchases for the Pro upgrade are securely processed end-to-end by Google Play In-App Billing.
We never receive, process, or store your credit card, bank account, or financial payment details.

3. Device Permissions
The App requests the following Android permissions strictly for functionality:
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Required to calculate real-time speed, distance, and GPS accuracy.
- INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required for Google Play in-app purchase validation and Google AdMob ad delivery (in free mode).
- VIBRATE: Used optionally for tactile speed limit threshold alerts.
- WAKE_LOCK: Keeps the screen awake while driving or navigating when enabled in Settings.
4. Children’s Privacy
Speedometer does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
5. Security of Data
Because all GPS and telemetry data is processed locally in temporary device memory, your location history and speed data never leave your device.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
